For this week's #ThrowbackThursday, how about one of the gems of the Museum's collection: Chapel Car 5 Messenger of Peace!

The car had been converted into a road-side cafe for a time. It was later in danger of being demolished for highway construction before it was saved by Arthur H. Hodgins. This black and white photo shows the chapel car in situ with the Ritz-Limited Cafe sign still on the roof. After Mr. Hodgins' passing, his family entrusted the car's care with the Northwest Railway Museum. In 2007, the car was donated and delivered by truck to the Museum. This image shows the car on the back of the trailer. The windows are reinforced to avoid breaking. The two doorways cut into the side of the car are visible. A yellow crane is set up behind the car, getting set up to lift it from the trailer. Six years later, the car body has been reconstructed and much of the interior work has been completed. This photo from 2013 was taken when the Chapel Car was moved from the workshop into the Train Shed Exhibit Hall.
