The piece is rightly focused on Hegseth, but hints at something inside Trumpland: a shift from the Paula White-type charismatics to the hypermasculinity/patriarchy of the Christian deconstructionism of the Doug Wilson-Hegseth world. (Not that the charismatics are disappearing, mind you.)
