Interesting evidence of a tsunami deposit probably caused by the Cheasapeake Bay impact.

Very high iridium anomaly and strange features.

More research should be focused on these deposits and should be published (I would say) in a more widely-circulated journal.

Absolutely- my sis is in a blue state. Working for the state environmental agency on sewer treatment. But her salary is 100% EPA funded. She’s very worried. A co-worker also working for state gets a salary funded by Cheasapeake Bay Authority- which Project 2025 talks about getting rid.

One thing that gives me pause is that while a lot of other ecosystems have indeed restored to a balance, or are on a trajectory to do so, since the 'conservation' inflection point of the 1970s - and this includes the Cheasapeake Bay - the granddaddy of them all, the Grand Banks fishery, has not.
A graph of cod caught in the grand banks of Newfoundland going from 100k tonnes in the middle 19th century to around 300k in the mid 20th - and then a rapid spike due to industrial level fishing in the 1960s followed almost immediately by a sharp collapse, the briefest of rebounds in the 1980s, and then total collapse after 1990 that continues to the present day.
