It is 100pc true. I had to take my commercial checkride in a shaggy dog suit. My examiner was an orange tiger.

Just got my PPL in Flight Simulator and I cannot recommend getting it at Hilversum Airport (EHHV) because it's somehow just molehills with trees all over the field. My real checkride was easier than this one!

passed my instrument checkride today! no fun photo to go with this one, as there was nobody else at the airport for the traditional examiner handshake. but I'm legally allowed to fly through clouds now, and getting this rating has been one of the most difficult things I've ever done. whew.

There was a NOTAM. Pilots are required to check for NOTAMs prior to departure. This is basic.
The crew blew past their assigned altitude by 1,000 feet. That would bust them on a checkride. No excuse. None.
If a Part 135 crew can not land without GPS they should not be flying commercially.

This weekend Mercy passed a checkride and the pilots will tell you that's a really big thing because it's the last step towards getting approved to do more pilot things.
(As you can tell, I am NOT a pilot lol)
But she got a perfect score on even her instrument portion!

After 4 years, 11 months, 13 days & 36 minutes, my basic flight training has come to an end. I flew my first lesson on Aug 22 2021. Today, Aug 4 2026, I passed my multiengine instrument rating checkride. It’s the last rating I need to be able to make a career in #aviation a reality.

Also, it’s curious to see an instructor referred to as a “co-pilot”. That is not the cockpit dynamic that exists during a checkride.
And I wish we were talking about the decision to fly a checkride in some of the most complex airspace on the planet.
Pilot error is the easy way out on this crash.
