Members of the cosmopolitan Alteromonas are particularly synergistic, and chemotaxis towards infected algal cells seems to help them overcome their low abundance within the bloom microbiome.

📣Shout-out to Estelle Clerc, Jean-Baptiste Raina, and Roman Stocker for this fruitful collaboration! ->

I am happy to share a new preprint with Daecheol Kim, Yefei Zhang, and Yuxuan Zhao on The Keller-Segel Model for Chemotaxis on Metapopulation Graphs and Graphons.

In this paper, we explore spatial pattern formation through directed motion on patch-structured populations.

Over time we learned more (and more to come) about how chemotaxis drives bacteria forward, and how by killing bacteria in the center, the phage leave a zone of relatively high nutrients & chemoattractants.

Bacteria migrate to this zone, and yet, it is a (moving) trap.
