A few Snow geese are accompanying this flock of migrating Canada geese. The only time that I have seen Snow geese in the Chequamegon Bay is during fall migration. 🪶

A scruffy looking windblown juvenile bald eagle has been hanging out at our city beach of Chequamegon Bay, Lake Superior. The eye looks blue here, but was actually brown. By their 5th year the eyes will be bright yellow.

Trumpeter swans are showing up in the Chequamegon Bay of Lake Superior after wintering further south. This one is displaying one of their courtship behaviors. They do nest in the bay area.🪶

I took this photo of Common Merganser ducklings today near the shore of Lake Superior. Mergansers are one of the first ducks to return to the Chequamegon Bay and among the last to head south in the fall.
