My estimation of The Phantom Menace has declined hugely since it came out, but I remain convinced that 2 tweaks could make it a near-masterpiece: 1) Eliminate the podracing play-by-play; 2) Make Jar-Jar’s speech unintelligible and unsubtitled like Chewbacca.

Anyway, here’s the time I met Chewbacca, gave him a huge bear hug without realizing it, and then, because I was slightly embarrassed, profusely thanked the person in the costume.

There are and they do I have first hand knowledge of my own kid and others their age who are Star Wars fans because Rey, Finn and Poe are their heroes. They could care less about a Chewbacca or a Yoda but The Force Awakens is and always will be their jam.

Mr Miyagi is a human man and Chewbacca is the sentient equivalent of a great ape. Even if Han is being hyperbolic when he says that Wookiees have been known to rip people’s arms out of their sockets Chewbacca is still like a seven foot tall gorilla. How does someone even argue that miyagi would win

In 2008 I did a Tournament of Nerds event where I made my case to a panel of judges that Chewbacca would beat Mr. Miyagi in a fight, and I had a much better argument than the Mr. Miyagi guy, but the men on the panel ruled against me ENTIRELY because they were still so mad at the prequels.
