I suspect it was Chitty Chitty Bang Bang in 1968, when I was 6.
My Grandma took me and my brother @madmidweeker.bsky.social to Bedford cinema to see it. I remember pretending to be asleep when the childcatcher came on as he terrified me and I didn't want to look!

Pretty sure there is an anecdote where the childcatcher scared tye child of a friend, who asked Robert Helpmann (the actor) to speak to his son and show him it wasn't real... Robert asked to spaek with the child on the phone, and put on the voice and said he was coming to catch him...
