A few weeks back, I took Keiko through my process on roughing out a dolphin spoon.

I finished the earring stand. There were several sad ladies who wanted to buy it. I was displaying it, with other carvings, at a Texas Parks Nature Day Festival. Our club had a table there to display our carving art and try to interest new members.

A sugar skull themed Jack o’ Lantern I carved for the Halloween event at the museum several years ago. Block printed Tshirt I made featuring the Grateful Dead’s iconic “steal your face” skull with a six-pointed rosette in the middle. Beneath it are a pair of crossed chip carving knives. A hand built ceramic coffee cup with a Grateful Dead stealie on it. It’s lumpy and the colours didn’t come out as I had hoped, but the coffee tastes just as good as if it had. A print of Mari Lwyd- the festive Yuletide rap-battling undead horse of Welsh tradition - which I did in 2024 to support an art auction for victims of domestic violence in the UK.

I started designing some new rosettes, stars, ornaments for #ChipCarving. These are five/ten divisions of a circle using a compass and ruler. There is something very exciting to me about creating geometric patterns.

Playing with new designs and shadows. On the cross to the left, I wondered what it would look like with an inward-beveled edge all the way around, meeting a vertical wall. Then I kept the rest simple.
I tried to fit an angel on the other cross and make it into a chip carving. #ChipCarving
Two more ten-centimeter crosses. Cutting curves and long, skinny chips are my weakness I guess. More practice!
