Tomorrow I will be having a pretty involved surgery to remove a bump out of my ear called a Cholesteatoma!
If you ever lose hearing quickly, please go have it checked! We caught mine quick enough we should be able to recover hearing!

So I've been dealing with a few ear infections over the past almost year and a half. My right ear is muffled significantly and I've learned it might be a cholesteatoma (benign skin cells growing behind the ear drum).
It's really annoying. And, if confirmed, there's at least a surgery for it.

It's a tympanomastoidectomy! (They are removing a Cholesteatoma fragment for the second time in my ear to avoid deafness and facial paralysis!)

i had a cholesteatoma (benign tumor) removed from my inner ear when i was 9 which would have paralyzed or killed me by 18. it destroyed my inner ear bones, which were replaced with titanium prosthetics
one of them is now stuck sticking halfway out of my ear drum and must be removed lol

A little about me, I am HOH, losing my hearing to of all the silly things, allergies.
I’ve severe to catastrophic hearing loss on my left, & I’m at about 50% on my right.
I was diagnosed with a massive cholesteatoma when I was 26. It has spread into my mastoid process & sinuses in my face.

This one seems pretty obvious. About another ear problem, I had heard that Oscar Wilde died from complications of a cholesteatoma.

It is a benign tumor, thankfully! It’s called a Cholesteatoma and is not a true tumor, but a mass caused by your body fighting itself. It’s destroyed my middle left ear and has rendered me deaf on that side. The hope is that after this surgery I can undergo reconstruction.

From 3 on I swam, including diving, until I moved to the US. I missed weeks of school each year from illness & had my first cholesteatoma in my 20’s(when my left ear lost its juice) now the right ear is going

One year, the seizures got worse & a cholesteatoma rapidly grew back, which meant immediate surgery. It was March when she was 13 & the school said they would just freeze her grades for the school year so she could recover at home as the surgery was a wall down mastoidectomy. We were lucky.
