Honestly it's way more than a handful. It includes
Albania (Shqipëria)
Bhutan (Druk Mul)
China (Zhongguo)
Egypt (Misr)
Finland (Suomi)
Georgia (Sakartvelo)
Germany (Deutschland)
Greece (Ellada)
India (Bharat and similar)
Hungary (Magyarország)
Japan (Nihon)
Both Koreas (Choson and Hanguk)
Turkiye spelling issue just reminding me how weird it is that in the 21st century there's still a handful of countries we refer to in English with totally different names than the actual people of that country use.

"choson people" goes hard
you know, while I'm not one of the chosen people (I'm one of the choson instead) and therefore a bit outside my usual lane, I feel like equating ms rachel's "let's not kill kids" policy proposal to antisemitism is a bit of a mistake
the fact that nick fuentes isn’t here but ms rachel is illustrates perfectly that groups like this don’t actually care about antisemitism at all

A young person discovers the fate of the world depends on them travelling back in time to 16th century Korea. They are...The Chosŏn One.

Interesting backstory: it was Park Chung-hee who created this "national stretch" in 1977 and mandated it through schools. It was based on a stretching regimen of the 1950s Japanese self-defense forces.

Just remembered when I was a kid, playing Age of Empires and not knowing what "Choson" was. So I asked my granddad who worked in a museum.
"Who are the Choson?"
"What?"
"The Choson civilisation, in ancient times."
"Oh, the Chosen People? That refers to the Israelites."
You know one truly minor and unimportant side thing that sucks about the fact that antisemitism and the I-P conflict both exist is that because we can't expect people to be normal about it we will probably never get an iron age strategy game that features a playable judea

You may have heard of Agawec, Bharat, Choson, Druk Yul, Ellada, Hanguk, Hayastán, Magyarország, Misr, Namhan, Sak'art'velo, Shqipëria, Suomi, or Zhōngguó, but I like the fact that unless you have at least some (even non-speaking) familiarity with the language, you can't deduce where they are

i don't mind this proposal so long as we all reorient ourselves around the time zone of the choson people

i of course speak of kst, or UTC+9
no one wants to consider my insane pitch which is to eliminate timezones across the planet so we’re all on the exact same time and force everyone to change their conception of what a day is
The House overwhelmingly voted to pass a bill to make daylight saving time permanent

Apropos discourse on here, there is a funny quirk in some machine translations of Chinese. North Korea is officially still Choson/Joseon and is referred to as such in Chinese language media.

That means you can find Chinese historical dramas that reference Joseon but the subtitles will read DPRK
