I got to use the phrase "casually beheading her pancake" in my book, so there's that.
It's a mermaid-shaped pancake.

In the next 14 days I'm supposed to:
- finish two new pitches for my literary agent
- finish the first draft of #ChristmasMermaid
- finish a quilt
- teach at least four classes
- attend multiple meetings
- file taxes
- start new migraine meds
Please send good vibes so that I survive all this.

With a smile I embraced my inner mermaid, ready for as much adventure as a little kid’s party and mysteriously flavored birthday cake could offer.

Okay, I am calling #ChristmasMermaid done and sending it to my editor. The book will get formatted and then I'll have an ARC to proof read in a few weeks.

My copy editor is from the USA and has lived their whole life in the Rocky Mountain region. Which means they are flagging all my Southern and Aussie language twists. The POV character is from Louisiana and lives in Sydney, so she isn't using Rocky Mountain English.

For a fraction of a moment I let myself have this. I let myself pretend someone loved me.
It was fun, for a couple of seconds, and then reality hit like a two-by-four with rusty nails in it.
