Trump’s America may be Canada’s unreliable boyfriend for now, but the United States has always been our “Uncle Sam,” Chrystia Freeland writes in her new political memoir. “Uncle Sam wants to be loved—and feared.”

I am on the episode of @sandela.bsky.social & @nolore.bsky.social's podcast where they discuss the absurd number of mugs used by Chrystia Freeland in a photograph that was shared on social media.

One mug ought to be plenty.

10/10 Democracies have a stark choice: hang together through shared values, or hang separately as easy prey for superpower bullies.

Friendshoring is the win-win path forward.

Opinion: Liberal democracies must embrace the concept of friendshoring – or become the easy prey of the world’s superpower bullies
Unless a core group of allies, committed to each other because of their shared values and not simply their current regime’s definition of the national interest, finds a way to hang together, they will...

1/10 🇨🇦 DEMOCRACIES MUST UNITE AGAINST TRADE BULLIES 🇨🇦

Liberal democracies must embrace "friendshoring"—a mutual defence pact against trade aggression—to survive an era of unvarnished unilateralism.

Et le reste de la population dort. Il n’y a pas trop de grandes protestations. "No kings" ne compte pas. C’est juste un gros tail gate.
Chrystia Freeland a raison: la démocratie américaine est sur respirateur. Et c’est très dangereux pour nous
50 million of my fellow Americans are brainwashed and trapped in a cult. This insanity will only end when Trump dies.

Former Deputy Prime Minister Chrystia Freeland sat down with David Remnick at The New Yorker this week. Canadians, she told him, think America “is toxic and broken and can never be trusted again.”
The only winner in all this is Putin.
Dean Blundell details the state of US-Canada relations:
Toxic, Broken and Never Trusted Again: The Incredibly Sad Data Behind Canada’s Breakup With Trump’s America. It’s Very Over.
We grieved. Then we built new friendships. If America wants us back, it starts November 3 and ends in a courtroom.

I can assure Chrystia that these Canadians are not alone in their view.

Furthermore, I don't think US Democrats realize that the majority of them not effectively standing up, i.e. not standing up against the foreign policy actions of this terror regime, have heavily contributed to the mistrust.

Oh nice, I think Brown does himself no favours when he tries to capitalize on incidents like when that guy yelled at Chrystia Freeland at one of his events and in the viral clip the camera shows a nearly empty room with only senior citizens, this isn’t the ‘cool youth market’ she wants to capture
