It's been a long time since I built one of these, but when I spotted this vintage tin at Odd Ours on Howard Street, I thought it would make a fun little mandolin.
This one will be on sale either from my workshop or via my online shop.

"Blackheart" has a pine box body with white fascia and a spicy humbucker that really catches the natural tone and kicks it up to another level. Seriously, I am properly tempted to keep this one for my own self.
Strung with 36/26/17 strings and tuned to GDG.

"Recluse" is a coffin build with a surprisingly dark, compressed tone. It's loud, it's brutal, and just a bit unrefined in a good way.
Seriously, tap that spider in the box. You'll hear a distinctly creepy ring like it's yelling at you.
Tuned to GDG.

Sparkly. Pink. And there's a unicorn inside! That must be why it's already sold.
This build has a rowdy Invader-style humbucker and does pinch harmonics VERY well. It's more metal than you think.
Strung with 46/36/26 D'Addario strings and tuned to DAD.

I have some better photos of my latest builds - this trio are kinda like siblings
The white build is strung with 36/26/17 and tuned GDG, the others are strung with 46/36/26 and tuned DAD
I'll get them listed separately on my own socials and website sometime soonish

Fresh off the bench! Three coffin builds for the ABQ Headbanger's Market this weekend. I'll get the intonation dialed in later today after the strings have stretched a bit and then I'll get all the beauty shots for posting online tomorrow.

The coffin builds I am creating for the ABQ Headbangers Market are coming along nicely - I have a few more details to add to these today while the final coat of oil on the necks cure. They should be ready to start final assembly tomorrow.

There's much more to do with shaping these necks but my hands are telling me I'm quite done for the day. Ouch. 😕

Fresh off the workbench, build #068. "La Sauceda" is a custom order three-string with a smoky woody twang that pairs well with late nights and bar room fights. Strung with 36/26/17 D'Addario strings and tuned to GDG.

On Saturday I played with the Ball State Electroacoustic Ensemble. We premiered my new piece "Shape Shifting 2: Ensemble in Three Parts". I played a couple of my homemade instruments.

Today's project. Now I just need to figure out how to play a fretless instrument with a slide properly. 🤷
