Many cinephiles tout the benefits of seeing movies in theaters. Here's one way to improve the theatrical experience-have the movie's musical soundtrack performed by a live orchestra. There's a service called CineConcerts that schedules events like this, and there are many symphony orchestras that do this, such as the Chicago Symphony Orchestra, the Atlanta Symphony Orchestra, the Indianapolis Symphony Orchestra, and the San Francisco Symphony Orchestra. The movies that get live orchestra accompainment are often very popular films such as "The Wizard of Oz", the "Star Wars" saga, the "Lord of The Rings" trilogy, and most of the movies scored by John Williams. Here are some films that should be accompained by a live orchestra that have not been (as far as I know): "Cinderella" (1950)-This is one of Disney's finest animated films, and hearing the orchestra perform the songs would make it so much better. You could also have a choir perform the choral tones during the opening credits. "A Boy Named Charlie Brown" (1969)-This movie's rendition of The National Anthem and the "Linus and Lucy" song and all the rest of the music would be impressive in person. "Ghost" (1990)-All this movie's music is great music, especially at the end. "Casper" (1995)-This movie's score, conducted by James Horner, is hauntingly beautiful, even when it only consists of piano notes during the "Casper's Lullaby" song. Once again, have a choir for the choral tones. "MouseHunt" (1997)-The score for this rousing and really gets your heart racing. "Titanic" (1997)-Why this particular film hasn't been shown with live orchestra accompainment is a mystery to me. So what do you think of showing movies in theaters with the music soundtrack performed by a live orchestra? And what movies would benefit from doing so? Please let me know. Have a great day.
