A negotiated photograph (no photography rule, IPL) of the main bathroom in the private quarters of Walmer Castle, Kent. Taken at an oblique angle it features principally a beautiful tiled wall, a sort of duck egg green but shining in the reflected light entering the space from a large window. Through which the brick of part of the castle interior wall can be seen. Also visible is a tower rail, a basin and a wall mounted cabinet. I liked how the window light plays on the tiles as if the window is leaded (divided into small panes) when in fact it isn’t at all - it’s the tiling itself creating this illusion. Sort of. A muted camel brown coloured curtain plays nicely colour wise against the whites and blue-green of the room. The property has historical significance, connection to Wellington and Elizabeth, the Queen Mother.

Hard to make out my local boat and crew on the start line, but they're there somewhere on the far side (The story of their day, unfortunately) 🙂 Joint second (last) about a third way into the race. It's going to be a close run thing! 😅 Drama at the half-way turn! Another boat seems to have broken an oar, and has retired! Last place is taken! 😁 The team crosses the line in third to last place (I think!) Well done all, for a valiant first try!! 👏🙌✨

Back in June, Kent Archives attended a major two-day conference exploring the history of the #CinquePorts from the 13th century to the present day, hosted in the medieval splendour of the Stone Hall at Maison Dieu, #Dover ⚓️

A photograph of the inside of an exhibition cabinet. At the top of the image is an oar, which is made of silver and has an engraving of a crown on the paddle. It is very shiny and has a reflection of a frame and exhibition panel which are on the wall above it. Closer to the front of the cabinet is the Speaker's Badge, a teardrop shaped badge, with silver around the outside. In the centre is the coat of arms for the Confederation of Cinque Ports, which is a red and blue background with three part-lions part-ships on it. The badge has blue fabric attached and is positioned on top of its open badge case.
