There's also a peal being attempted in Towcester. Grandsire Cinques starting at about 9:30.
Hear #bellringing across the City of London this weekend as the Ancient Society of College Youths ring peals on 12 bells to mark 300 years since the first known 12 bell peal. St Bride’s no longer has 12 #bells so will ring handbells but church bells will peal from Holy St Sepulchre and others.
Drop in this Sun 19th Jan from 1pm to witness the re-enactment of the first ever 12-bell peal which was rung at St Bride's in 1724.
The Society of Ancient Youths mark the tercentenary by ringing the original peal composed by William Jackson on handbells. It lasts about 3.5 hrs! #bellringing

#UnconfinedWalks I made a reasonable fist of rounds on 12 on the 8th though (fortunately not captured my first attempt from the 2nd, a tricky bell to control, 2nd attempt was much better). Later also managed Grandsire Cinques

Had a blast at Erin Cinques tonight as well. It's really great to see that yesterday's QP band had some solid front-work! All the rows were much cleaner without wondering if it's a dodge or lead first...

The yearly tradition of losing a peal for the Christmas Tree festival continues today with having to stop 5 courses from the end of Grandsire Cinques with the tenor ringer not feeling well. Ey well, if it was easy, it wouldn't be worth doing!

I've not seen one in the 26 years that I've lived here.
Gamlingay Cinques is usually good for Brown Argus, Small Heath and Small Copper.
However, I tend to avoid the place nowadays. Too many dogs exercised off-lead and mess not cleaned up by most.
