Ah, G1 Metroplex. A childhood fave. 💜
He was the one citybot I had as a kid, and he was hella fun!
I could really go for a reissue. Mine broke at the waist and all I have left of him are the lower half and parts of Sixgun.
Would be fun posing him with my Dr. Wu Micromasters!

My original childhood Metroplex box. Instructions and parts intact, but I had to replace the Metroplex itself with an unyellowed one, and my original discoloured one got a new lease of life as my Custom G2 Metroplex.

G1 Micromaster - Blackout and Spaceshot with Anti-Aircraft Base
As I've gone over before in these posts (see submission history), the Micromaster bases were peak Transformers for their play pattern, and value. Kids who weren't able to get their hands on a large Citybot, could play at a small scale.

That's actually really cool to see Metroplex get the Blockees treatment, this does a good attempt at translating the citybot to this kind of toy.

I'm kinna hoping for a Liokaiser actually. If it's a citybot or like, Primus or something, I can skip it...I get really OCD about scale sometimes, and I can't see shelling out 600 bucks for something that's gonna annoy me half the time

Do we really need third party #Transformers in Micromaster scale? When it comes to Dr. Wu's version of #Trypticon: Most certainly! Here's the cutest little destructive citybot ever!

💭WHAT I THINK WE'LL GET
Titan class is already getting smaller and moving to more of a Commander++ role within the lineup - i don't think it's suddenly going to get bigger again in 2026 and be a citybot redo. i've already established that i think Nexus, as a set, is hard to fit into retail... [7/9]

Been reorganizing and dusting bookshelves today and midway through looked over at Trypticon and noticed he looked like he was doing one of those READ posters from the 90s.

#40YearsOfTransformers - 2017
'Titans Return' Trypticon was a titan-sized update to the 1986 citybot, with city/base, space cruiser, & robotic dinosaur forms, trading the motorized action of the original toy for greater size, articulation, & detail. One for the Godzilla enthusiasts out there.
