The City of Toronto has launched an AI-driven pre-check system to accelerate housing approval processes and tackle the housing crisis effectively.

Homeowners in Honolulu used to wait more than two months for a building permit. Some waited even longer, stuck behind stacks of paperwork and repeat corrections. Today, many wait about five weeks instead. AI permitting technology made that jump possible, and cities across the country are racing to copy it. The tool behind Honolulu's turnaround is called CivCheck. It scans every application against the city's building codes the moment a builder submits it.

DENVER — Denver is moving forward with an artificial intelligence software the city says will make reviewing construction permits more efficient. Denver City Council then approved a five-year, $4.6 million contract with vendor CivCheck in March.
