Cleomes are so self sowing you can have them for years without planting a single seed 😂🌱🌱🌱

🌱

I save zinnia, cleomes, cosmos, nusturtiums, and black eyed susan seeds....

I want to make a trading group.

Today for #sixonsaturday it's all about the Cleomes. Mostly anyway - apart from the nice smelly 🦊poo delivery right outside my back door! (& Stachys & echinops). The number cuddly toys accumulating under garden bench in nobody's business.. ?? Where do they get them all from?? #Bloomscrolling

Cleomes

🌱 My first seedlings are emerging! Petite yellow marigolds. I started four varieties of marigolds, two different zinnias, and English daisies this past Monday. 🌼 Next week I’ll start a tray of Cleomes. #gardening #flowers

Whelp, beginning to lift out the Canna lilies and over winter the corms, but the Cleomes are getting huge now too. The humming birds are gone, and the Canada geese are preparing to head south for the winter.

The air is still bleh, but I’ve spent too many days trapped inside and decided to go work on the gardens anyway. Feeling much better now, mentally at least.

A bunch of zinnias & marigolds were moved into 2.5” pots tonight & tier #3 shelves for starts was turned on & filled now. More marigolds to size up tomorrow and then get cleomes started and broccoli. Pete was a huge ‘help’ in the repotting tonight😂 AND my rhubarb plants are coming up! #gardening

Cleomes!! I love those beautiful alien flowers!

Sounds like a beautiful Sunday at Chez Shellfire.

It is. Blown my sweet peas off the trellis, blown two as yet un-planted roses over, flattened the cleomes. And the car got a good buffeting on the Newmarket viaduct. I don't fancy the bridge.

My Cleomes and Morning Glory lasted forever, until we got our first round of snow. I was so surprised by it.

Morning Skog. First year for ages I’ve not had any cleomes. Just couldn’t get them to germinate, so pretty. One year we came home from holiday and they’d grown so huge! Xx

As anyone gardening in or around Bristol knows, the most important taxonomic classification in plants is the subdivision into "ravaged by slugs" and "ignored by slugs".

I can confirm that cleomes are in the classification "ravaged by slugs".

A couple of houses on this block put up a yearly sidewalk border display of zinnias mixed in with other flowers on 20th Ave. All kinds of bees love it!

I wish you all the best. Also, random note: cleomes grow like crazy over there. Go figure.
