A color postcard titled “Night Scene at Municipal Airport, Cleveland, Ohio” depicts an illuminated airport terminal at night, rendered in a slightly painterly style typical of mid-20th-century postcards. The scene is dominated by a low, Art Deco–influenced terminal building with clean, geometric lines and a central control tower rising above the structure. The tower is capped with a glassed-in observation room glowing warmly from within, crowned by a bright beacon light that radiates outward into the dark blue night sky. Multiple floodlights mounted around the building cast halos of yellow-white light, creating a dramatic contrast against the nighttime background. The terminal façade includes rectangular windows lit from inside, & signage reading “Cleveland Airport” is visible on the building, identifying the location as the city’s airport. December 29, 1876 - An iron railroad bridge over the Ashtabula River near Ashtabula, Ohio, fails at about 7:30 pm, plunging two locomotives and 11 passenger cars of the Lake Shore & Michigan Southern into the river below. The accident killed 92 people.

February 24, 1910 - The Cleveland Short Line Railway opens as a southern bypass around Cleveland.

A quasi-independent railroad organized by the Lake Shore & Michigan Southern, it bypassed the congested railroads in downtown Cleveland.

February 17, 1872 – The Cleveland Massacre occurs, as John D. Rockefeller's Standard Oil buys out 22 of 25 oil refiners in Cleveland, Ohio, all but securing a national monopoly on petroleum refining.
