I think this is one of my favourite pictures of the desert wheatear on Cley Beach last weekend, crouched down on the structure and facing into the wind @birdguides.bsky.social @btobirds.bsky.social.

Birdwatching at Cley early this morning, a little chilly in the brisk wind but possibly not a day for sunbathing.

Another bird that over winters in the UK is the Wigeon. There were already a large number at Cley yesterday, swelled by more flying in over the sea.

Then onto Cley beach where this DESERT WHEATEAR was quite the show off! A new bird for @esbr-essex.bsky.social

The first winter male Desert Wheatear showed down to a few feet at the weekend on Cley Beach, Norfolk. A bird I haven't seen in the UK since a local bird in Rhyl back in November 2012! #RareBirdsUK #Birding

🐦‍⬛ Cley Marshes, Norfolk today: Pink-footed Geese cackled in the sky, Brent Geese and Golden Plovers foraged on the pastures, a Marsh Harrier quartered over. A Spotted Redshank was a nice find on Arnold's Marsh. Passing at sea were Red-throated Divers, Razorbills, Little Gulls and Common Scoters.

With 35 years since the last UK Nutcracker, had to make the pilgrimage to Norfolk to see this fabulous wasp-munching bird y’day. A nearby Hooded Crow led to brief thoughts of an 8 corvid day, but couldn’t find Raven. At Cley Desert Wheatear was lovely & gull roost (w/ mystery larid) atmospheric.
