#CliffsNotes
Kids today have lost the fine art of bullshitting a 10 page paper from a single Funk & Wagnalls entry or from reading only the CliffsNotes. 🤣

If you’re tempted by the “AI summaries are just modern CliffsNotes” argument, please remember that CliffsNotes were written and edited by people who got paid to be accurate, not built on stolen data and extruded through a LLM that doesn’t know what truth is.

It’s funny how Wikipedia used to seem relatively unreliable, because it was written by regular people instead of encyclopedia experts, and now it seems relatively reliable, because it’s written by regular people instead of glib CliffsNotes robots
wikipedia turns 25 today! the last unenshittified major website! backbone of online info! triumph of humanity! powered by urge of unpaid randos to correct each other! somehow mostly reliable! "good thing wikipedia works in practice, because it sure doesn't work in theory" - old wiki adage

And no, I have not seen The Wire.
But I have read the CliffsNotes twice and am ready to opine in exhaustive detail if absolutely necessary.

The internet is wondrous, is it not?

"Half-read" is too generous. It's doubtful they even got through the CliffsNotes' introduction.

Setting fire to the planet to reinvent CliffsNotes.
I was assisting with an online professional course that people were paying $500 to attend, and several people sent their AI bots instead.

The flow of learning is the point. There's nothing you can glean from a summary except a quick "oh that's smart!" and promptly forget.

You “read the room” like you only used CliffsNotes, dumbass.

If it were found that CliffsNotes gave, on average, more accurate 90-word summaries of novels than literature profs did, would it follow that literature profs should answer student questions using CliffsNotes?

CliffsNotes: Transmitted a paired photon 30km through a fiber optic cable without it becoming entangled with other particles. This allows them to transmit data from one of the paired particles to the other instantaneously. So, near instantaneous communications.

Whoever wrote this review didn't even read the damn CliffsNotes for the book. WTF.
Apparently Guillermo Del Toro has ruined Frankenstein by… being relatively faithful to the source material.

Oh my.

It's The Hatchet for me.
