Seattle's highest temperature ever recorded is 108 °F (42 °C), set on June 28, 2021, during a historic Pacific Northwest heat dome. Official records for the area date back to 1894. www.kiro7.com/news/local/n...
NWS Data: Seattle is seeing more days above 90°
Seattle typically saw about seven days above 84.9ºF in a year around 1990, according to ClimateCheck. By 2050, that number is expected to rise to about 28 days per year, the group said.

ICE just bought one in Surprise AZ.
Are these chosen because they’re next to railroad tracks?

They just need to know about it, which I guess is the major issue altogether.

It's not just the heat; the humidity is 59% and that impacts the wet bulb temperature

Basically, the heat and humidity combo makes it hard/impossible to cool down by sweating

Right now we're in "extremely dangerous for outdoor activity" range

1) It's presenting data (quite briefly and straightforwardly) about land use. You framing that as "popping off" is a bizarre excuse to not read a short article.
2) why = NIMBYism and insurance policy, mostly. The ex-Californian (left b/c of risk) in the article at least addresses land use.

More wildfire risk in KS than CA?
"Storm" covers Chicago and Buffalo and FL?

Many private climate risk analytics let you look up addresses, but can be hard to see the big picture.

This example worked its way into a draft training doc for insurance state regulators (seems... unlikely to stay in).

I'm finding there are a lot of these "advanced climate resilience portfolio/insurer risk models" coming out lately. XDI, ClimateCheck, ClimateFirst, Resiliō. This space will get crowded fast. I am unconvinced any have surmounted their GIGO weakness.

Isn't this a similar process to what ClimateCheck has been using? GCM data that is downscaled using ML?
