The right-wing tactic of sifting through huge caches of emails and pulling individual words and phrases out of context in order to stoke controversy ... was not born with the Twitter Files. Remember the DNC leak? Or even farther back, remember "climategate"? It's a longstanding tactic.

- Don't give a single inch
- Senior staff particularly protect and defend individual victims
- Actively attack the mob as bad-faith, racist, liars, etc

We’ve seen this over climate change from the start. It was the key to ‘ClimateGate’, for those with long memories. It was used over Covid time and again for those with vested interests. It’s very sad for a good journalist to let himself be used here, at best.
