Sunny Hostin has shared the advice Cynthia Erivo recently gave her over the viral Cornell 7 case. “The View” co-host […] The What Cynthia Erivo Said To Sunny Hostin Following Bold Cornell Remarks first appeared on The Blast

ABC via SnapStream Continuing to push disinformation about the Cornell 7, and the alleged sexual assault, ABC’s purported “bona fide news program” The View insisted the man “at the top,” President Trump was to blame for the alleged incident. Ignoring the fact that the alleged incident occurred during the Biden administration, the cast spent part of Tuesday’s show blaming the current president. The reason became clear in the context of co-host Sunny Hostin’s appearance on their podcast on Monday, when she admitted she was convinced to push emotion over the facts of the case.Leading the rest of the cast into blaming Trump, moderator Whoopi “rape-rape” Goldberg vomited out a bunch of words in an incoherent mess about a lady being attacked by a garbage can, before asserting that people who wanted to wait for facts were more likely to commit a sexual assault:Can I just point out the fact that, this has been going on for quite some time. Remember there was a young lady who was attacked by a garbage can, people filmed it. This has been going on, this kind of mindset. And what bothers me is that oftentimes we'll hear people who should be saying, you know, ‘let us find out what is actually happened,’ who are saying, ‘no, this is what it is.’ These are often the people who grow up to do these very things.Goldberg went on to ridiculously suggest, without evidence, America was getting instruction “at the top” about how “this is now okay or it’s been normalized”:We always say we want to protect women and yet people are still begging for information from the Epstein files. So, I don't understand why this is a shock, and why people aren't saying, ‘wait a minute, if you are hearing at the top that this is now okay or it's been normalized.’ Why are we surprised that these things keep happening? We keep saying, you know, ‘we all have to put together the fact that you have to protect women. You have to educate your men. You have to.’ ABC's "bona fide news program" The View seems to blame Trump for the Cornell incident:WHOOPI GOLDBERG: If you're hearing at the top that this is how okay or it's been normalized, why are we surprised that these things keep happening? We have educated people to film it, we have to educated people to talk about it. We've educated people that mob mentality is how you go and you get stuff done and then you don't have to take responsibility. And for me this has to stop at the top.She didn’t explain how there were laws against it.Their ridiculousness was explained when taken in the context of Hostin’s podcast appearance the previous day. While speaking to the show’s executive producer Brian Teta, Hostin admitted that her sorority sister, actress Cynthia Erivo convinced her to throw away the rational facts and cater to irrational emotion:She said, ‘She has had to learn to give people her opinion in a way that they can receive it rather than just be blunt.’ And she said that I need to, instead of leading with the law, I need to lead with empathy so that people can receive the law, the message about the law. In regards to her flip-flop on the Cornell 7, Sunny Hostin admits her sorority sister, actress Cynthia Erivo advised and convinced her to not focus on the law and facts, but rather to lead first with emotions. pic.twitter.com/XsSHmbhrgC— Nicholas Fondacaro (@NickFondacaro) October 6, 2026 Ironically, Goldberg and co. where playing their ridiculous blame game while ABC and Disney were actively in a federal court duking it out with the FCC over a review of ABC’s broadcast licenses, and they were a subject of the conversation. The transcripts are below. That may be surprising to people, but we're both in the same sorority. We've spent a lot of time together. And I love her. And she loves me. And she called me from Paris. And she's actually working on a movie about consent and sexual assault.BRIAN TETA: Oh, really?HOSTIN: And she had only seen the clip. And she called me and said, ‘Sis, I know you. And I know your heart. And I know your life's work has been about protecting women and children. But the clip that I saw doesn't reflect who you are.’ And she then said, ‘You are such a blunt - I am such a blunt person. And you are a blunt person. And that's why we get along so well because we cut the BS out when we talk to each other. And with each other.’ And she said, ‘Had you led.’ She said, ‘Sometimes.’She said, ‘She has had to learn to give people her opinion in a way that they can receive it rather than just be blunt.’ And she said that I need to, instead of leading with the law, I need to lead with empathy so that people can receive the law, the message about the law.And that's why the next time we talked about it, I led with that so that people would be able to receive the facts that in New York, if you are voluntarily intoxicated, you would almost have to be completely passed out. You would have to affirmatively say ‘no,’ or you would have to be drugged involuntarily to prove sexual assault.(…)ABC’s The ViewOctober 6, 202611:09:08 a.m. Eastern(…)WHOOPI GOLDBERG: Can I just point out the fact that, this has been going on for quite some time. Whip out your thing,’ whatever. Yeah, but it was not a good - To not rape - participate in whatever was going on is not good enough.
