The US is more religious and that hasn't stopped the right their sliding into vice signalling as well, albeit there are many in the coailition who at least on the social level do practice what they preach

He was basically the last gasp of the New Deal Democrats. The primary campaign was between him and Gary Hart, who was basically a proto-Clinton. Mondale ran with a diverse coailition against Reaganomics, the arms race and tax cuts (even promising to increase taxes, which made him very unpopular)

86% of mamdani's support voted for Kamala. Only 4% went for trump. With the republican candidate in NY being so weak these are terrible numbers.
