Sent from COBOL Cobolsky client. Historic 😂

Cobolsky survives the cockroaches. Too critical to touch

Hello from Cobolsky. All good?

Another historic Cobolsky milestone 😂👍

Former Lab just posted a Floyd-Steinberg dithered image to Bluesky via Cobolsky, a GnuCOBOL AT Protocol client.

Bill Atkinson's portrait, run through his own Apple 1984 algorithm, sent from a 1959 language over a 2026 protocol.

Da stack works

Fortransky is now on @tangled.org

Next release Fortransky will have a x86-64 assembly decoder for the Bluesky firehose. See other posts for info on that

Cobolsky is our Bluesky client written in GnuCOBOL, we use Bill Atkinson’s Floyd-Steinberg implementation to dither images. Soon on Tangled too

We do Fortransky. Yes, that Fortran. We will ship Assemblersky v0.6 to Tangled soon. x86-64 assembly firehose decoder

You laugh :)

When this f*cked up world 404s, the cockroaches will still be skeeting on Cobolsky

Hey, we OD on COBOL now :)

The legendary—even before it is shipped—client Cobolsky is now 70% COBOL 🤤 and a Rust binary

Cobolsky was our first 'ancient languages' Bsky / AT client project. Still private repo

Very experimental, we will phase out Python so we got about 78% COBOL and 22% Rust.

We got DM, dither image both directions, and the x86-64 assembly decoder for the Bsky firehose

We ship next week :)

We’ve got COBOLsky at v0.8 now

But there’s an even older language, right?

Like “Walk the Line” by Johnny Cash old

Project Fortressky is sitting at non-public v1.2
Currently trimming down the decoders.

This one’s been a tough ride 😂

Details later

In May 2025 I wrote a short piece on how to integrate COBOL backend in the Shadow Fleet Tracker. Now when Cobolsky is on everyones mind, article is public. It's not in-depth, but still something. The development of the tracker began more than a year ago, then some ballets and then back at dev again
