Jesus Christ. Can we just fucking regulate these fucking crime platforms already.

Lisa Kaul, who says she “entered electoral politics because I really wanted to do something about climate change,” flipped a Republican-held state senate seat in the Hudson Valley.

Her pitch: “Let’s help people with the upfront costs of EVs and heat pumps so everyone can enjoy the savings.”

A study in Nature Communications shows that wastewater from Swedish hospitals favors antibiotic-resistant E. coli, unlike municipal wastewater. The study identifies the antibiotics ciprofloxacin and cefotaxime as key drivers. go.nature.com/4z1xqlx #microsky 🧪

E. coli?

actually you know what? With all the e coli outbreaks we've been having? Maybe we *should* start inspecting pigs here. I'll vote in a pig inspector, fuck it.

Published. A fantastic side study by @izziepotterill.bsky.social showing emergence of a new sub-clone of E. coli ST131 driven by de novo mutation of the capsule region resulting in a unique capsule operon architecture.

Many thanks to ASM for excellent experience

Genomic rearrangement of the capsule operon in a phylogenetically distinct cluster of the multi-drug-resistant Escherichia coli lineage ST131 | mSphere
Multi-drug-resistant (MDR) Escherichia coli is a problematic cause of invasive disease in humans and animals. Resistance to multiple classes of antibiotics is severely limiting treatment options. ST131-C is a highly successful, MDR clone of E. coli that is a major cause of extraintestinal infections. Capsule is a key virulence factor in contributing to this clone's success, with capsule switching allowing the bacteria flexibility to thrive in different niches. We present evidence that suggests continual evolution of this proliferant clone influenced by host-pathogen interaction. Small genetic changes can define the success of a clone; therefore, it is important to monitor this continual evolution in pathogens.

Algorithms make you stupid. I keep saying it.

I think Bluesky is better than Twitter not because it is more liberal (that’s just another reason, but because algorithmic social makes you stupider.

Algorithms feeds you the same stuff over and over, pushing you down ever narrower rabbit holes in a way that you just don’t get on Bluesky.
Specifics of this story aside, it’s quite something seeing a mainstream journalist using the R word in 2026.

This is a visualization of the first layer "agent channel" weights from Experiment 1 in 'Sparks of Weight Space Programming', where Astra is able to figure out which video game each model is trained to play by examining the weights rikiyat.github.io/blog/weight-...

THEY FUCKING FIGURED IT OUT!
I some how got E. coli. But after 2 false negatives, finally got a positive.
On to treatment.

or even simpler lol bsky.app/profile/coli...
GPT-6 Astra was able to look at the weights of a trained diffusion model and figure out what kind of images it was trained to produce. Can you do the same? Here are the first layer weights from the three models that they showed it. What kind of images do you think each model is trained to generate?
