You can take the girl out of the Greensboro and Raleigh coliseums but you cannot take the Greensboro and Raleigh coliseums out of the girl.

15 min walkable coliseums.
Honestly, bread and circuses seems like a good thing. Feed the people and give them something to do seems like a much better strategy than starve them and make them march 20 miles to set your palace on fire.

Seeing lots of great Cybersmith posts in the replies here, but I don’t think anyone has mentioned his belief that Roman citizens lived in miniature coliseums

You are correct. We erect coliseums (stadiums) to keep the masses occupied and controlled as Rome did.

🌿☕Gladioli represented the virtues of ancient Roman gladiators: Bravery, tenacity & victory💪

Gladioli was offered to the gods by the people during religious celebrations & rites, & thrown to victors in the coliseums 🏛️

Both gladioli & gladiator have the same etymological root meaning sword 🗡️💐

4/ This isn’t new. The world has always watched suffering from a safe distance. From the coliseums to Bucha. From public executions to social media mockery. It’s always been there. And now, in russia and Trump’s America, it’s the dominant mindset.

Coliseums are pretty common in JRPGs. Here are some of my favourites!

The person behind the Resolute Desk is a guest in our home for a short time, a caretaker handed the keys, a servant sworn to protect what belongs to all of us. Caesar built coliseums and fed the crowd blood and bread to remind them who held power.
