Why won’t they negotiate meaningful job security language? The semester is slipping away. Students can’t access critical services. Part-time support staff are also in bargaining and a strike vote is planned/underway for them. #OPSEU #Local557 #ONPoli #CollegesStrike
More than 10K FT college support staff across Ontario are on strike. The strike was triggered after the employer (CEC) refused to include strong job security language in their proposals. We’re fighting to protect the work that keeps campuses running, and the services students rely on. #ONPoli #OPSEU
Ontario college CEOs take home massive salaries whilst denying job security to the staff who keep colleges running. Students lose. Staff lose. CEOs win. According to Sunshine List, CEOs are feasting whilst support staff are left starving.

Colleges Support Staff are still on strike as the employers/CEC refuse to return to the table. The Part Time Strike Vote on October 14. The CEC seem to be pushing for a full disruption to shift the blame onto support staff. Where is the news coverage? #OPSEU #CollegesStrike #ONStrike #ONPoli

In 2024, college presidents’ compensation ranged widely; e.g. Ann Marie Vaughan (Humber) earned $497,880; David Agnew (Seneca) earned $459,778
If the colleges can afford that, they can afford serious protections for their support staff.

President John Tibbits of Conestoga College made $636,106 in 2024. Meanwhile, Conestoga laid off 190 support staff and suspended over 80 programs while frontline workers & services are being cut. We can't let them prioritize their pay over public education. #OPSEU #Local238 #ONStrike #CollegesStrike
Did you know? George Brown College President Gervan Fearon earned $412,580 with a 7.8% raise. The PM of Canada, Mark Carney, earned $209,800. Make it make sense, you can’t. But you can see where the problem is, right? Protect support staff jobs at all costs! #OPSEU #Local557 #CollegesStrike
