Back in the mid 80s Sydney Swans had a massive following, massive crowds, massive scores, massive hair, massive mo's, tiny shorts. Enjoy this old swans song played around the ground.....let all bring it back!

In Friday night AFL action at the SCG, the Sydney Swans were quickly overwhelmed by the Collingwood Magpies’ early intensity. The Magpies established dominance from the outset, scoring three goals before the Swans could respond. Charlie West opened the scoring for Collingwood, followed by goals from Angus Anderson and Lachie Schultz, as the Swans struggled to make an impact despite 11 inside-50s. The Swans appeared rusty, showing the effects of poor handling under drizzle conditions. Coach Dean Cox’s 'organised chaos' strategy, which focuses on creating turnovers and cleaning them up, remains a high-risk but effective approach. Meanwhile, Sydney’s squad faced further challenges as star forward Jamarra Ugle-Hagan was a late withdrawal for Gold Coast due to an ankle injury, replaced by ruckman Jarrod Witts. The Swans’ high-pressure style and the Magpies’ clinical finishing set up an intense contest. The atmosphere at the SCG was charged, with fans witnessing a rare shaky start from the home side. Off-field, the Swans continue to draw attention by engaging with celebrity guests, illustrating the club’s broad appeal. Overall, the match highlighted both the potential and vulnerabilities of the Swans early in the 2026 season.
