Does he not picture the autumn moon in the same way coltsfoot pictures the sun in spring?

turns out Coltsfoot was distant cause he's just always thinking about that poor rabbit and wondering if they have to suffer the same fate over and over and over again. Fiver tells him that what he saw wasn't real, just an echo, and that no one knows how Frith works

its a ghost story of course, about how there were abandoned burrows where supposedly something bad happened to the rabbits who lived there. One day Coltsfoot and some others decided to leave the warren, much like the Watership crew did, but they get lost, one of them gets killed by a stoat

when comforting him (Blackavar said it was just a hare) Hazel says that he doesn't know any rabbit that's seen a ghost. And this is when Coltsfoot, who had been there the whole time, just silent, finally speaks up and says "You have." Referring to himself of course

the only exception is a rabbit named Coltsfoot, who seemed to have little to say and wanted nothing to do with any rabbit, often eating by himself even. Hazel tells everyone to leave him alone cause that seems to be what he wants

On the blossom-scented air of soft summer eventide, the tables were laid with clean linen, garlanded by flowers and greenery. Servers stood by bearing jugs of pale honey cider, elder-bark tea, wild fennel an' coltsfoot cordial, and the good October Ale for which the Abbey was famed.
