Each time I travel along the Columbia River, I find myself looking for this rocky formation again. The small group of trees along its ridge has a quiet pride about it, as if it’s simply waiting to be noticed.

The sky was clear when I took the photograph. I added texture and softened it with Gaussian blur to give the sky a wispy, painterly feel and let the formation stand out. I’m sharing it again because familiar places can hold our attention in ways we don’t always stop to explain. What detail in a landscape keeps drawing you back?
