Making progress.
I helped save a state college geology program from being phased out. I encouraged them to shift the department description toward mapping & rare minerals. It is already gaining more traction to continue. This will protect education & save jobs.

I had this and the First Contact one shaped like a combage.

The same thing happened in DS9’s Past Tense, with Jadzia’s combage left behind on 21st Century Earth. Apparently never found.

Honestly, that actually might be the point. SF is going full-speed back into the galaxy, so its possible they want a more elegant, ornate style combage to go with the many Diplomatic missions taking place

She looks very young in the teaser, dressed similarly to her TNG appearances and there's also the typically TNG combage (which, granted, may not be contemporary by the time she finds it) but it all seem to point in the direction of this being set long before Picard S03.

Though your mobile emmiter combage theory is also good, and presumably the item is so small it can have a personal transporter without the need to link to a larger system like a complex large organic system?
