#Commonplace
Good morning. From The Commonplace Book:

“Mercy is not itself, that oft looks so; pardon is still the nurse of second woe.” – William Shakespeare, 𝘔𝘦𝘢𝘴𝘶𝘳𝘦 𝘧𝘰𝘳 𝘔𝘦𝘢𝘴𝘶𝘳𝘦 2.1

For the United States to be guilty of such uncivilized and slimy behavior has become commonplace. Trumposhenko's private army the WE pay for will be a source of shame and embarrassment for moral and decent Americans until the last of these ICE/Brownshirts dies. Shun them.

"The practice of rigging lavatories with a disco soundtrack and flashing lights activated by a button [...] is so commonplace that it has almost become a cliche." Oh, yeah, the disco toilet, I'm so familiar with that.

Hmmm. Pseudonyms are commonplace, especially in journalism. I believe Pecksniff to be a good egg, in fact. It’s just a bit horrifying how easy it can be to treat things lightly from the comfort of your own nest or bubble. I write this from under my own comfy duvet with coffee and toast, admittedly.

the only people for me are the fast ones, the ones who are fast to live, fast to talk, fast to be saved, furious at everything a quarter mile at a time, the ones who never yawn or say a commonplace thing, but drift, drift, drift like fabulous yellow sportscars on Tokyo streets
When shall we three drive again
Quite fast in fog, or snow, or rain?

When the furiousness is done,
When the race is lost and won
No fast organism can continue for long to exist sanely under conditions of absolute fury; even larks and katydids are supposed, by some, to drift.

Everything that used to be "sensationalist" or "controversial" like 10 or so years ago is just commonplace and background noise nowadays.
Like remember when the president having an affair was enough to call for his immediate expulsion?
What fucking happened

My lifetime average is slightly better than 4, but on more than one occasion I have gotten lost hunting for a word that turned out to be quite commonplace

Originally, stonework was commonplace, and windows weren't, because glass hadn't been invented yet when the Ghan Desert was first colonised and settled by travellers entering the sands.

They brought Ice Gems with them. 🧵
Good morning, #OctoberWorldbuilders! Let's talk about buildings in our desert societies. What is the architecture like? How do they keep their homes warm/cool as needed?

The people I've heard it from are journalists living in West Asia ex CIA geopolitical analysts and military people. Granted it's become more commonplace recently.

i hate to be pessimistic, but with the way games are getting bigger and investors expect them to earn more and more money, i feel like this will be commonplace. and companies will deliberately continue using misleading language to placate ppl's fears of "not consuming ethically"

‘Did you see how they were dressed...?‘

It seems commonplace, with a certain kind of men.

I am one who has been interested only in the edges of the body and the spirit, the outlying regions of the body and the outlying regions of the spirit. the depths hold no interest for me; I leave them to others, for they are shallow, commonplace.

These types of disasters seem to be commonplace now around the world.

How ridiculous. We all lived through this and it was unbelievably criminal. Ask Carl Bernstein and Bob Wiodward how insignificant and commonplace Nixon‘s behavior was. 🙄

Lasseter was born in 1957 and grew up throughout much of the 1960s & 1970s, during a time when the workplace was far more demeaning to women, and that kind of workplace harassment was a lot more commonplace.

Hey y'all.

Stable at 88 freaking pounds down is a fine place to be. 206 again this morning. Just a remarkable thing to realize is now commonplace.

Will never understand or be anything other than piously grateful.

All my love, be good.

Indeed. I think spontaneous people are pretty commonplace, if I'm being honest, and stories just don't feel realistic to me with *no* unpredictable people.

Jacob is a brilliant, brilliant writer and essayist. He thinks about games in a way no one else does. He's represented and argued for a politics that would create a better world where the pain he caused would be less commonplace. Now he can't do that. I'm sad about that.

It has become almost commonplace for public institutions to shell out cash to departing employees in exit agreements. But the deal OHSU struck with former top lawyer Alice Cuprill Comas stands out.
In August, OHSU Said Its Top Lawyer Had Retired. It Gave Her $1.8 Million to Go Quietly.

if you haven't seen it, I guess you haven't seen it, but it's quite common, and I think it allows people to ignore the way misogyny is commonplace and validated.

I feel like doms who are just bullies are one of the hottest types, the idea of being tied by a mean brat then stuffed into a locker should be more commonplace
