#CommunalFoodEvent
During our Saturday #CommunalFoodEvent, community members shared knowledge on #foodpreservation, passing down practices that kept our ancestors food-secure long before modern methods. Practices that can still guide sustainable communities today. Grateful to #UMIFund for the support.

At the #CommunalFoodEvent, Fidel shared a piece of practical wisdom "Harvested crops were stored in cribs & granaries. There was always air circulation in these #storagefacilities that allowed them to stay for long."
Simple & effective means passed down for generations. #UMIFund

"A person's harvest was not only for their own home it was part of the community's survival."
A mother's reflection at #CommunalFoodEvent recalling how seeds & harvests were once shared not individual burdens. Today's defenders need the same spirit, no one carrying hardship alone. #JoyAndWellbeing

"A good hunter was not measured by how much meat he kept
but by how many households smiled because of his generosity" Every catch was shared with widows, families who couldn't hunt. No defender facing hardship should struggle alone.Solidarity is the strategy. #CommunalFoodEvent #Solidarity #UMIFund

At the #CommunalFoodEvent, elder Onwang Boniface reminded us "Goats were for eating & marrying women, now everything is for buying." He added that preservation once meant using cassava stem tubers to cook instead of cutting down trees. A call back to a simpler, sustainable living. #UMIFund

Last Saturday, NaTA convened a #CommunalFoodEvent to reflect on ancestral wisdom & values that sustained our communities. We revisited traditional healing, kneeling around medicinal herbs, walking barefoot as acts of humility & care.
Grateful to #UMIFund for the support.
