i'll be honest, I thought that when billionaires decided to start paying condottieri for armies again they would do it on a much smaller scale not by directly sponsoring the Pentagon payroll while Congress is locked out.

The nanosecond someone becomes a politician I owe them absolutely no fealty unless they prove themselves useful to me in a strictly utilitarian way and probably even then only if they're actively paying me to be some kind of blackguard in which case they have my undying faith until they fuck up.
