Finished Harvest…one month at Coonamble and two weeks at Werris Creek. The highlight being the team effort of the young and older to get the job done. Estonian b/packers French rugby player,men and women all putting in long hours.

Just read there was a tornado watch for the Central West...which is interesting because this morning between Gilgandra and Coonamble I was watching very low clouds which were definitely rotating. I was waiting for a funnel to touch down...but it didn't. Very windy though.

We are in drought at the moment so it will be interesting to see the difference in the countryside compared to my last trip in October. Breakfast in Gilgandra, smoko in Coonamble and lunch in Walget. Is it unusual to plan a trip around eateries?

Apparently Locusts have been identified😱 in Ivanhoe, Tottenham, Warren, Quambone, Goorianawa & Coonamble & are expected to start laying eggs in the coming weeks, with new hatchings likely from late February to early March. Knowing where they lay is crucial for stopping outbreaks before they swarm.

The eagle used to sit on top of my tractor cabin when I was plowing near Coonamble NSW back in the 70’s. Happy to let the plow flush out breakfast.

Such a great effort and was a great game to watch; took lots of guts and determination for the end result to get over the top of Walgett and take away the 2026 Premiership. Also, congratulations to the girls Gulargambone Flamin’ Galahs on defeating Coonamble Rams 19-7 in the women’s Ahrens Cup Tri Tag grand final also played in Nyngan. Well done to coaches, volunteers, committees, supporters and players of Western Plains Rugby Union Elders competition. A special mention to Sarah Pearce who made history being the first ever female coach of a men’s team to win a grand finale.Dusty Langby kicked of his campaign on Sunday 30th August 2026, walking from Warren all the way to Canberra - 540km to raise funds and awareness for Little Wings who provide paediatric services to our rural children in need.
