We need a groundswell of arts cooperatives.
If you want more Patrick Stewarts, then you publicly fund the arts and learning programs, so that working class kids can find their way into making a career in them.

What I wouldn't give to see more worker owned cooperatives here. Tired of the corporatocracy we have to live under.

tbh cooperatives in general seem best suited for the service industry because of the necessarily constrained scale of what the business is capable of doing

komplett wild, dass es das gab: »barbed-wire telephone cooperatives created by farmers, who used steel fence wires as cables, one connecting to the next, insulated by corncobs and leather straps. Multiple households shared a circuit, resulting in “party lines,” on which anyone could join the call«

Shareholders elect the boards that set CEO pay. In 2024, CEOs at the 350 largest U.S. firms earned 281 times a typical worker's pay. At the median worker cooperative surveyed, where worker-members share the earnings, the highest-paid earned 1.44 times the lowest-paid. #UCSB #BlumCenter

Proudhon basically called it in the beginning, before Marx ever wrote anything.

The revolution brought republics. Flawed democracies, but at least not totalitarian monarchies.

The goal is that or something better in the workplace too. Democracy, cooperatives, collectives, communes. Federate those.

Colombia’s peace deal is ten & seems to be holding. ~85% of former FARC fighters are still in the reintegration programme. The original deal planned for 25 cooperatives; ex-combatants have since founded more than 300, spanning farming, brewing, sewing & tourism. buff.ly/iLHGPGg

The defense contractor SOSi helps ICE locate immigrants targeted for deportation.

It also has a contract with one of the country's largest procurement cooperatives, Sourcewell, giving it a fast track path to language services contracts for over 50,000 local governments, schools, and nonprofits.

Well, free markets are not necessarily capitalism, and we should divorce the two.

Capitalism is employer/employee labor. (With employers leveraging this in all aspects)

We could have a socialist economy of all cooperatives and there could still be free trade on markets.
