Partout dans le monde, les sols sont malmenés par nos activités, alors qu’ils garantissent la vie. Dans les climats arides, cela s'appelle la désertification. Comment en prendre soin ? Chercheur émérite à l'Institut de recherche et développement (IRD), expert des sols, Jean-Luc Chotte préside le Comité scientifique français de la désertification et est également impliqué dans des négociations internationales. La 17e COP désertification, la moins connue des trois conventions de Rio (COP climat, COP biodiversité), se tient du 17 au 28 août en Mongolie.
