James Talarico: The system has been rigged against working people.

In 1971, a corporate lawyer named Lewis Powell laid out a blueprint for corporate interests to spend massive amounts of money in our politics — buying politicians in both parties and elevating corporate voices in media.

It truly is The Big Lie that corporate tax cuts benefit workers. They benefit corporate executives and shareholders. The Big Lie has worked to persuade too many working people to vote against their own self-interest. Which is exactly why it was cynically created.

THIS ELECTION WAS ABOUT CORPORATE LAW
The Texas Legislature shamelessly created the 15th Court of Appeals to have a statewide business court staffed with Republican judges, rather than have those cases go to geographically assigned appeals courts that might also have Democrats.

Tonight, the 15th Court is getting wiped out by Democrats.

👇🎯💯 Professors don’t get appointed to Fortune 500 corporate boards. CEOs shouldn’t get to dominate university boards.
Appoint actual professors - educators - to the board of regents. No CEOs. No corporate lawyers. The people who do the teaching and research should be running universities. This is the only way they can truly serve the public good.
Higher ed board regents are appointed by the governor in Texas.

Notably UT board chairman Kevin Eltife, A&M chairman Robert Albritton and Texas Tech chairman Cody Campbell's terms are all up in February 2027. All three heavily involved in college athletics at those schools.

Randy beat the DCCC, a corporate Dem, and flipped a red district blue. Great guy, incredible candidate, and inspiring future member of congress.
This victory belongs to the voters, hundreds of volunteers, tens of thousands of grassroots donors, and working families who believed we could build something better together. Central Valley, we're going to Washington – together!

Call your reps today and tell them you don't want Jeffries to be speaker. Voters overwhelmingly rejected corporate interests last night. Leadership should reflect that
Meet the donors behind incoming speaker Hakeem Jeffries:

-Palantir’s Mehdi Allhassani: $44,300

Some under-the radar ballot measures last night:

-Montana banned corporate money in state elections

-Washington kept its millionaire tax and Chicago passed one
-43 of 44 data center moratoria passed

More HUGE wins.
