A cartoon image entitled: Alberta Orphan Fund. The cartoon shows People crowded under an umbrella, gasping, trying to stay under it, & have it shield them as a guy labeled with ‘I'm Dave Yager’ pulls the umbrella away from them. Caption reads: “I'll take this MATURE ASSET STRATEGY” Tell Alberta Premier Danielle Smith: "don't mess with our protection"! Alberta is flooded with, and its pouring, unfunded oil and gas liabilities. It will cost hundreds of $billions to close mature oil and gas wells and facilities. Not much funding has been set aside from industry profits for this purpose because INDUSTRY PROPOSED THE ORPHAN FUND. The good news is wise legislators of the past created Alberta's unique "orphan fund". The fund's sole purpose is to protect citizens from oil and gas closure risks in the event that regulatory systems, put in place to manage upstream oil and gas liabilities, fail. The orphan fund concept requires industry to pay for closure of so-called "orphan" wells belonging to non-existent, failed, companies. It's becoming expensive for industry so it has come under attack. INDUSTRY FAT CATS CAN AFFORD TO CLEAN UP THEIR OWN MESSES. David Yager's Mature Asset Strategy is an attack on the orphan fund!
