A vertical composition frames a dramatic, monochrome sky filled with heavy, layered storm clouds. Light breaks through the center of the clouds in a pale, radiant column, illuminating drifting mist and fine particles in the air. In the upper half of the image, two large black birds are captured mid-flight, their wings fully extended and sharply defined against the glowing break in the clouds. Their feathers fan outward, each primary feather visible, creating a sense of tension and lift as they cross the bright opening. Below them, perched along the edge of a dark, weathered rooftop, four more birds remain still. Their bodies are clustered but distinct, heads angled in different directions as if observing both the sky and one another. The rooftop slopes diagonally across the lower frame, slick with moisture and shadow, grounding the composition in weight and gravity. The contrast between motion above and stillness below creates a quiet, foreboding balance, where departure and vigilance coexist under a sky charged with light and impending change.
