Question for teachers/instructors: Has anyone ever assigned students to research the Fediverse or join a Mastodon instance as part of a class project? I'm designing a course project and am curious what other folks might have done.

I really am curious and not being snarky.

"Flipped classroom" #coursedesign #highered #teaching for example, presumes student preparation...

How do you feel about this?
July 15, 2026 at 10:06 PM
For example, do you call on students by name to answer questions that, if they did the prep. work, they should know

Or do you just call on the class as a whole instead of "putting someone in the hot seat" and hope that someone answers? #coursedesign #teaching #highered

Unpopular opinion?
If your class design is structured in a way that depends on student preparation before class in order to do in-class activities, then require accountability for that prep work.
