34th anniversary. A trip out to the Port Renfrew Pub. Then up the Pacific Marine Rd to Cowichen Lake. Had to stop at Fairy Lake. This tree must be the most photographed tree in the south VancouverIsland.

Yes! Nanaimo River and Cowichen are so epic too. Haven't explored it yet but planning on Buttle Lake and Forbidden Plateau this summer.

So thrilled! We gambled on an auction tub of apparent wood carvings. We scored 11 stunning Nuu-Chah-Nulth pieces, most of which are signed by master carvers in the late 90's! They got a gentle cleaning and are ready to be displayed. #art #salishcoast #woodcarving #firstnations #salish #fineart
A beautiful wood carving by the artist Kevin Touchie, in yellow cedar, rests on a wood and metal bench. The carving shows a realistic loon transforming into a spirit bird that is done in the style of the Nuu-Chah-Nulth tribe on the Salish coast of BC. A large group of beautiful wood carvings are spread over a wood and metal bench. Most are in from the Salish coast of BC but there is one dark brown wooden African style mask in with them. A blue plastic tub holds a large group of what looks like dusty wood carvings Two wood carvings of salmon rest on a wood and bench. The larger one shows the raw wood ( probably yellow cedar) and also has colorful painted details. It is a feast bowl by the master carver Randy Goldsmith of the Cowichen tribe, dated 1997. The smaller piece was carved by Dr. William Good and is stained all over in a warm reddish brown. Both are done in the style of the First Nation's on the Salish coast of BC

I believe in Cowichen the fire department donated a fire truck to the tribe so they could combat tires on their land. Many indigenous do not want us on their land. We 🇨🇦 are trying
