🧵Cowside, a side dale of Littondale, was shaped by glacial action, though unusually the ice flowed across the valley, leaving a steep, deeply incised V-shaped landscape. Around Arncliffe, the hills display classic stepped limestone terraces, dry stone walls, and deep gullies hallmarks of the dale.

✨ Last year I visited Cowside. This was originally a poultiggery 🐓 🐷. The base a home for pigs and the top for hens. The pigs keep the hens warm in winter. A bit of vernacular gorgeousness from Cowside in Langstrothdale, Yorkshire Dales. Looked after by the Landmark Trust.
