I don't know what to do with this but the reality is that the public discourse around road safety is had overwhelmingly in terms of emotion. If the terms of debate were data & evidence, it'd be a slam dunk for active & public transport. But cyclist made me jump/upset me so cyclists must be punished.
The thing about this is that drivers don't have to actually win the argument on merit. And deep down they know that. However progressive or lefty or anarchist they are, they know that they don't have to be right or fair or just because they'll still get their own way. Same play as any right winger.
