We're back with the World's Worst CrimLaw Textbook!

"few people want intentionally dangerous or disruptive behavior not to be criminalized"

(n.b. this is not the wildly terribly crimlaw textbook)

CrimLaw professor keeps talking about marital rape being legal like it is a thing from the distant, distant past.

Marital rape wasn't made illegal in all 50 states until the 1990s.

but seriously lawyers should *love* LLMs because we are about to see bold new frontiers in crimlaw and economic espionage law explored

Crimlaw: Judges are impartial.

IPS: Judges are supposed to be impartial, but obviously no human is. Here are some factors you can’t really wish away:

Age verification: I watched the OJ trial verdict live . . . while in crimlaw class during my first year of law school. bsky.app/profile/crai...
Age verification? In law school they taught me how to Sheperdize with paper hard copies and to make sure I looked at the pocket parts . . . and I had to do that for a few years in practice too.

Age verification? My student film was shot on 16 mm reversal stock and edited on a Moviola.

The Crimlaw text is not ivory tower bullshit; it’s just bullshit.

The chapter I'm currently reading in my Intro to Paralegal Studies text is pretty much parallel to the one I just read in CrimLaw, and it is striking how much better and more clearly the Paralegal Studies text handles the same material.

My crimlaw professor had previously been a public defender at the Bronx Criminal Court, so he kept it SUPER real.

This is crimlaw lesson 1 and something I need to repeat over and over. You *cannot* talk your way out of incrimination. Nothing you say will *ever* exonerate you.

Cool. So that guy is just wandering around with a gun, thinking monsters are after him.

I think i remember reading a case in CrimLaw like this.

Officially made it the whole semester teaching CrimPro and CrimLaw, one in the AM one in the PM, in mirror-image rooms, and didn't mess up the time or room once. Very proud of myself.

I'm pretty ignorant of these things, but how does it know what xkcd style looks like if its only source is your crimlaw book?

I have heard through the crimlaw grapevine that the DC grand jury has already no true billed the sandwich guy case TWICE and that prosecutors are going to try again. This is from someone who very likely has accurate and timely info.

Next class we're talking about enforcement decisions and police decision-making, and I'm thinking of using Discharge's State Violence/State Control. #crimlaw #music www.youtube.com/watch?v=vxPR...

I'm so despondent.

How can I advocate for my (non-famous, low or middle class) clients when I no longer believe our system delivers any semblance of due process?

I have to assume I'm fair in my guess that there are like 3-5 academics who just specialize in that one little niche of crimlaw and they can figure it out.
