Dragonflies (metalwork) by @jeni_cairns from #CrimbleAtTheCrumb. A fabulous, and from I’ve heard, very successful, Christmas #art fair in the #Fens this weekend. It’s destined to be hung outdoors when we’ve decided on a suitable place for it. #wildlifeart #TheFens

And here’s more from hugely versatile @janet_bates. She likes doing things in boxes (and I do like things in boxes) like these mini shoes made from maps, and these #wildlife in a box pieces - ovenbird/bumbarrel, goatsucker and dodo #CrimbleAtTheCrumb #art #wildlifeart

Oven birds by @janet_bates from #CrimbleAtTheCrumb. Janet’s made a series of ‘boxed’ bird collages based on a species’ old country name. You can see the Long-tailed Tit’s ‘oven’ nest in the background. My fave name for LTT (LOTTI) is bumbarrel #art #wildlifeart

And if you do go to #CrimbleAtTheCrumb this weekend, be sure to collect your free dairy story scroll!

Oh! I nearly forgot these wee bee hives! More wonderful things in boxes by @janet_bates at #CrimbleAtTheCrumb #art #wildlifeart

Lastly these wonderful little ceramic plaques by Denise Brown (I’m told you can find her on FB and IG) #CrimbleAtTheCrumb #art #wildlifeart

And @_annieb also does her #justnormal women as brooches! How cool are these?! #CrimbleAtTheCrumb

And then there’s @_annieb If you know me you’ll know I don’t usually do people in art, but I just love her #justnormal women portraits. You’d have have more than one tho. Right? #CrimbleAtTheCrumb

Also at #CrimbleAtTheCrumb is porcelain #artref="/hashtag/artist" class="hover:underline text-blue-600 dark:text-sky-400 no-card-link">#artist @KParsons_Art. We love her work and her latest pieces are just fab-u-lous! In little tins, boxes, under glass. Love it! #art #wildlifeart #fens #thefens

Host of #CrimbleAtTheCrumb is @Jeni_Cairns who makes fabulous metal #art such as these pieces. Other work includes garden pagodas and life size garden statues

Each piece tells the story of the individual migrations using maps and star charts as the background.

Liz and I are just back from #CrimbleAtTheCrumb https://m.facebook.com/events/354692365291209/ A fab collection of local artists showcasing on a farm near Coates in the #fens including these fab migration pieces by @janet_bates - Hobby, Swallow, Waxwing, Arctic Twrn and Bewick’s...

“When returning to the hive, honeybees communicate with each other by performing a waffle dance which tells the other worker bees where to go to get the best source of food. How efficient is that!” @janet_bates #CrimbleAtTheCrumb

Detail of the bee in the box. A wonderful and creative interpretation of bees and their lives in hives #art #wildlifeart @janet_bates #CrimbleAtTheCrumb

Honeybee in hive in a box by @janet_bates from #CrimbleAtTheCrumb. Each box opens to reveal a bee in the hive and each with a different caption about the life of a honeybee. #art #wildlifeart

Here’s more of Janet’s boxes which include goatsucker (Nightjar), dishwasher (Pied Wagtail), Frank (Grey Heron) and Sea Pie (Oystercatcher). Other boxes inc extinct species (Dodo and Great Auk) and badger watching #CrimbleAtTheCrumb #art #wildlifeart

#JustNormal women by @_annieb from #CrimbleAtTheCrumb. In the end I couldn’t resist! Each one is hand drawn, cut out and stuck on to an individual background. Annie says she doesn’t draw the people themselves, but her #art depicts each Pearson’s people’s personality

Got back from our hols just in time for #CrimbleAtTheCrumb! Would hate to miss this local art and crafts extravaganza. It’s open again tomorrow 10am-4pm @ The Crumb Studio, Coates, Cambs PE7 2HJ, with @KParsons_Art @SueShields3 @_annieb @jeni_cairns @janet_bates #DeniseBrown
